The School

The setting up of the Serenity School of Complementary Therapies has been a natural progression for the Principal of the school Stella Chenery. Having spent 5 years teaching ITEC subjects at other school and introducing three courses for the Community Programme division of the local Further Adult Education College she could no longer ignore the question often asked by students as to why she did not have her own school. 2004 saw the move to premises large enough to provide room to set up school and so the task was set to get registration. This accomplished the school now offers a comprehensive range of courses for complementary therapies including ITEC courses, Reiki attunements and Embody certified workshops in Hopi Candle Therapy, and an Introduction to Colour Therapy available from March 2009.

The Principal

Stella has worked in the health field since 1968 when she began her Orthopaedic Nursing Certificate at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford and went on to achieve her SRN nursing qualification at Charing Cross Hospital, London. She has also worked abroad in a Shriner’s Hospital in the USA and spent 3 years working with an osteopath in Bristol. This experience in allopathic medicine has proved invaluable as she is able to combine both orthodox and complementary knowledge in her practice and leads to great anecdotes in her teaching!

Stella still has a practice on the High Street.
